Flood Exposure of Residential Areas and Infrastructure in Greece

Worldwide, floods are the most common and widespread type of disaster during 21st century. These phenomena have caused human fatalities, destruction infrastructures properties, other significant impacts associated with socioeconomic activities. In this study, exposure infrastructure (social, industrial commercial, transportation) residential areas to in Greek territory was considered. To accomplish goal current freely available data from OpenStreetMap Corine 2018 databases were collected analyzed, as well flood extent zones derived under implementation European Union’s (EU) Floods Directive. The results will be useful for policy-making prioritization prone based not only on cover but also possible affected types. Moreover, aforementioned analysis could first step toward an integrated national-wide risk assessment.
